Strange, the only two schizophrenics I've known both committed suicide.

I stopped taking Larium halfway through a trip because I was having problems. I'll be interested in the conclusions of long-term studies on Larium twenty years from now. I certainly hope the results show no long-term effects, but I must say I have my doubts. Simply put, I don't believe the drug companies are looking out for my welfare.

'Causality' is always difficult to 'prove', but no one has to 'prove' cause to have warnings noted about pharmaceuticals, just a significant (statistically) incidence of side-effects. I note that the '2002 Complete Guide to Prescription and Nonprescription Drugs' says that 'confusion, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, psychosis' are all listed as possible adverse reactions or side effects, albeit 'rare'. And it notes special warnings 'if you have depression or other emotional problems'. While it doesn't say schizophrenia, the list of other possible mental disturbance certainly indicates that larium should be prescribed with caution. (BTW, 'Common side effects include dissiness, headache, lightheadedness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, rash, visual disturbances,(discontinue immediately for all aforementioned)

I'd say that is strange. Perhaps they also had a cormorbid mood disorder. In that case, they would have schizoaffective disorder, an altogether different animal.

What kind of problems?

Maybe not.

Untypical mood swings, strange dreams... It always happened the day after taking Larium so I stopped and so did the symptoms. I can't say the two were absolutely related, which is why I will be interested in the continuing studies and results. At the time the malaria risk was lower than I had thought before the trip, so stopping wasn't risky.

Yeah, come on we have been here before. Please read the previous track regarding Larium.

Good for some. Bad for some. Take the advice on that track!

That would be the paludrine in it - I get all those symptoms with Paludrine with the exception of the rash - it's like having a bad dose of flu and ruins your trip. Also you get mouth and throat ulcers
