Hello,

a friend of mine is in Southern Morocco with his Peugeot 504 right now. He will reach Mauretania within a week. He is unsure whether to drive down to Mali from there or choose the route to Senegal instead.

I have two questions:

- Is the route from Nema to Mali still feasible ? - Secondly, how is the market for cars in Senegal and Mali respectively? Where is it better i.e.less hassle, better prices to sell a car.

Thanks,

Ralf

Hi,

you could try posting your question at:
http://www.sahara-forum.de/

Go to the Sahara section.

this is a german bullitin board run by Klaus Däerr which is an authority on Trans Sahara travel (several good guides in german), and also runs an equipment shop in Munchen.

Cheers,

According to the Klaus Daerr guide, Timbedgha - Nara - Didieni - Bamako was done in 1997 with a Peugeot 505. It's piste all the way, sometime badly corrugated between Nara and Didieni. If you speak german (even just a little), get the 'Durch Afrika' book from Klaus Daerr : its the most usefull ressource I've ever had on the subject.

I long to be on the road again. Have fun !
