Fuel prices in Namibia / ZA

Does anyone have an idea of what's the going price for a litre of fuel in Namibia (outside of Windhoek). What about South Africa?

If I remember correct the prices in Namibia were (last october) around 1 euro per liter. Not much variation around the country. They have government controlled maximum prices. Prices in SA should be the same roughly. Botswana is a tiny bit cheaper.

Except... In some places fuel is sold by lodges or campsites (coz there simply isn't anything else around) and they sometimes charge as much as double the normal rate. Tsumkwe lodge is a fine example (can't blame 'em).

Officially this is not allowed as there is a government controlled maximum price. People selling fuel over that price could get quite a fine. When we were in Namibia last october, some people got arrested for doing so.

But then again, 'this is Africa'. All people are equal to the law, some are just more equal. So you will see people ignoring these regulations without anybody taking any action.

Well, luckily Namibia isn't like Zimbabwe (yet).

The fuel price in South Africa is R3.66 for leaded fuel and R3.60 for unleaded. Fuel is readily available all over the country (including Namibia). The only people with fuel shortages at the moment is Zimbabwe.
