It's depending on you. In August there was too much mosquitoes, three years ago in Bamako, Mopti, Djenee and Timbuctu too.
During 21 days there was only two rainy days.
Lor (sorry for my English !).

There is a cheaper and safer medication good for West Africa (You don't need Lariam and it's too strong). It's called 'Savarine' in France, you could search the web for the generic name. I went to a tropical diseases specialists to find out which med I needed. You probably will too because you need a Yellow Fever Vaccine, which in France, can only be given by a specialist at a hospital.

PS: A new med, Malarone, is better than Lariam without the side effects, but again it's not necessary for West Africa.

in Mali you need Lariam. No chance! In Senegal it's possible to use Clorochine but in Mali it's really dangerous specially in August. Lorenzo

The specialist I saw looked on a map and showed me the regions where Larium (or Malarone) is required and Mali wasn't one of them. My family doctor however had previously told me to use Larium for Mali. SO I would suggest confirming with a specialist.
IN any case, a yellow fever vaccine is required so one can always ask when visiting a specialist for the vaccine.
